Scituate - Kathleen E. Cunningham (Newell/Finch), age 76 passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Kathy is survived by her children, Kimberly Finch-Rabideau of Buckhead, GA, Walter E. Finch Jr. of E. Bridgewater, Corinne M. Finch of E. Bridgewater, Darren M. Finch of Northwood, NH, Robin J. (Finch) Sargent of Medway and John J. Cunningham III of St. Petersburg, FL and her devoted companion Edward J. Crowley of Scituate. She also leaves her brothers, William E. Newell of S. Weymouth, Wendell G. Newell of E. Bridgewater and Joseph J. Sloan Jr. of Whitman, her sisters, Georgia Sloan Richardson of Whitman and Theresa Sloan Hickey of Weymouth, her dearest lifelong friend, Charlotte Hanrahan of Sudbury, 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, William E. Newell Sr. and Elsie Langford Sloan.
Kathy was a member of the South Shore Dancers in Weymouth, the Jaycettes and the Old Colony Juniors and participated in many fundraisers. She loved gardening and ballroom dancing.
Kathleen was born and lived in Weymouth most of her life where she graduated from Weymouth High School in 1957 before moving to Scituate.
She was a law office receptionist at Gilman, McLaughlin and Hanrahan in Boston for 20 years before retiring in 2002.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Kathleen on Wednesday, April 6 from 4-8 PM at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. The Funeral will be at the Old South Union Congregational Church, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth on Thursday April 7 at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to the Boston Ronald McDonald House, 229 Kent Street, Brookline, MA 02446, rmhboston.org.
