Rose Marie Salemme (Perrone) passed away peacefully at the age of 94 with her daughter Margaret by her side on March 19, 2016. She was a resident of East Weymouth and Queen Anne’s Nursing Home in Hingham. She was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Church and a faithful communicant of St. Albert the Great Church.
Rose worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the Weymouth Welfare Office. She was an avid reader, loved cooking for her family, taking her sisters Mary and Lucy for a drive and visiting family and friends. She had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and was very kind and giving.
Rose was the youngest of eight children born to Matteo Perrone and Filomena Mazzarella (Perrone), sister of the late Lucy Striano, Mary Santacroce, Concetta Nista, John, Joseph, Alphonse and Michael Perrone.
Rose was the wife of the late James Salemme of Rockland. She was the loving mother of son Joseph M. Salemme of Temple, ME and daughter Margaret M. Salemme of Rockland, MA. She was the loving grandmother of Lauren Salemme, Joseph Salemme Jr. and Kristie Salemme; and great-grandmother to Austin, Matteo, Caleb, Kiley and Jonas. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Rose on Monday March 28, 2016 from 4-8 PM in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Tuesday for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass in honor of Rose which will be held at St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 9:30AM. Interment will immediately follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth. Rose’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham for the care they provided towards them and Rose.
