Robert E. Curtis, age 79, of Weymouth passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 26, 2016. Bob was born to Erville and Doris Curtis in Hingham then raised and educated in Weymouth where he has resided for over 70 years. Bob met his beloved wife, Mary Ellen Curtis (Monahan), through a friend in 1953 and have been together ever since. After they got married they settled in Weymouth and raised their loving family. Bob worked for many years in the family owned business, Curtis Farm Dairy as a Milkman, overseeing the farm, and racing trotting ponies. From this career, Bob was recruited to work at Brady Enterprises in Weymouth where he stayed for over 35 years until he retired. Also, he was the former President of the Fairmount Cemetery for many years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife especially going to their condo in Marco Island, FL that they have owned for over 25 years. Bob was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend who has been an outstanding caring member in the Weymouth community his entire life. He will be remembered for his strength, compassion, and integrity, which he exemplified for his family even in his final days.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 54 years Mary Ellen Curtis (Monahan), his loving children Pamela J. O’Leary and her husband Edward of Weymouth, and Jennifer E. Curtis-Whipple and her husband Robert of Weymouth, his devoted grandchildren Robert and his wife Kerri, Kaitlynn, Maegan, Taylor Marie, and Curtis, Brother of Alan Curtis of FL, and the Late Lawrence Curtis. Bob is also survived by his very special nephew John L. Curtis of Weymouth and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours for Bob on Monday February 1, 2016 from 4-8 PM in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9AM on Tuesday for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass in honor of Bob at the Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth at 10AM. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to the Surgical ICU at South Shore Hospital at 55 Fogg Road Weymouth, MA 02190 or the Weymouth Food Bank at 1189 Commercial St, Weymouth, MA 02189.
