Thomas Edwin Haapaoja passed away suddenly at Brockton Hospital on Wednesday August 26. He was 59.
Tom was raised and educated in Weymouth and lived most of his life there and in Abington, Braintree, and most recently Brockton. He was an avid Bruins, Patriots, Beatles and Motley Crue fan. He spent most of his working life as a warehouse worker and forklift operator. Friends and family will always remember his easy, almost constant smile and springy step.
Tom is survived by his long-term companion of 26 years, Linda Hartshorn of Brockton and his sons, Thomas of Weymouth and Raymond, formerly of Abington. He was the beloved Papa to Derek Hartshorn of Brockton, David Hartshorn of Taunton, Rachel, Cameron, and Andrew Hartshorn of Brockton, and Laura, Kristen and Emily Hartshorn of Weymouth, and Grandpapa to Emma of Virginia Beach, Va.
He was the son of the late Dick and Peg Haapaoja of Weymouth, and fun brother of Karen MacWilliams of Weymouth, David and Katy of Pittstown, NJ, Carl and Kathy of Mansfield, Gail of Brockton, Neal and Joyce of Rockland, and John and Lisa of Weymouth. He will be remembered fondly by several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Wednesday, September 2 from 4 -7 PM and the Funeral Service at 7 PM immediately following the visiting hours.
