Robert F. Cass, 72, of Abington and formerly of Rockland and Weymouth, passed away July 14, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Bob was born, raised, and educated in Hyde Park. He graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1960 and received his Bachelors in Accounting and an MBA in Taxation at Bentley University. Bob became a CPA and was a member of the AICPA for many years. Bob worked at several local banks including East Weymouth Savings, Hingham Institution for Savings and ended his career as CFO, Senior Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors at the Randolph Savings Bank where he retired in 2006. Bob used his skills in accounting and volunteered at a number of non-profit organizations including the Diane Devanna Center, where he was the Treasurer for three years. Bob enjoyed boating on Lake Ossipee while vacationing at his second home in Madison, NH. He was an avid golfer and, as a member of the Elks Lodge in Weymouth, played on their golf league for many years. He also enjoyed his part time job at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham. Most of all, Bob enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family whom he loved very much.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife Carol (Perrone) Cass, his loving children Mary Ann Trask and her husband William of E. Bridgewater, Susan Kaszanek and her husband William of E. Bridgewater, Christine Browne and her husband Adam of El Sobrante, CA, Kristen (Dunbar) Palmer and her husband Edward of Weymouth, and Kara (Dunbar) Willis and her husband Michael of Abington. Bob was the proud grandfather to 17 cherished grandchildren and one great grandson. He is also survived by his brothers J. Foster Cass and his wife Carol of Orleans, along with their three children, and Gordon Cass and his wife Prudence of Middleboro, along with their son.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours for Bob on Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 4-8 PM at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30AM on Monday, July 20th for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth, at 9:30AM. Interment will immediately follow at Fairmount Cemetery also in Weymouth. Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Adult Leukemia Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at 450 Brookline Avenue Boston, MA 02215.
