Robert J. Leavitt, age 84, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Sunday, June 7, 2015. Bob was the beloved husband of the late Lee (Colletta) and father of the late Robert J. Leavitt Jr. He is survived by his loving sons, Michael Leavitt and his wife Roberta of Norwell, Christopher Leavitt and his wife Debbie of Pembroke and Timothy Leavitt of Norwell; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his loving companion and best friend of many years, Nancy Eich of Norwell and her family. Bob was the oldest of nine children and is survived by his brother David Leavitt of Plymouth, and his sister Marilyn Lincoln of California.
Born and raised in Braintree, Bob moved to Norwell in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War and received the Army of Occupation and the National Defense Service Medals. After graduating from Bentley College in Accounting, he worked as a sales estimator for Old Colony Crushed Stone Inc. in Quincy and then for Tilcon Inc. in Brockton.
Bob was a longtime member of Weymouth Rotary, an usher at St. Helen Church for 40 years and a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society. He loved playing tennis and watching “his” Pats but especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren playing sports.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Saint Helen Church, 383 Washington St. Norwell on Saturday, June 13 at 10 AM. Followed by a graveside service at Washington Street Cemetery across from the Church. There will be a memorial visitation from 9-10 AM at the Church.
