Joseph G. DeYoung, age 65, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Tuesday May 12, 2015.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Melinda K. (Lung) DeYoung. He is the nephew of Ann “Sugar” Long of South Boston, Arlene and Vito Smith of FL, Ralph Jacobsen of FL and Richard and Coleen Jacobsen of Halifax. He also leaves his cousins, Gayle, Christopher, Angelo and Samantha Graziano all of Braintree and several other cousins, his sister in law and brother in law, Pattie and James Logue and their children Brendan, Justin, James, Patrick and Amanda all of Watertown.
Joseph was born in Somerville and lived in many parts of Boston before moving to Weymouth in 1994. He was a Tractor Trailer Truck Driver for 27 years, a Roofer for 7 years and a Brick Mason for 5 years.
Joe was a 100 percent disabled Vietnam Army Veteran and was a past Junior Commander with the DAV Chapter 29 in Braintree, a Lifelong member of the American Legion, a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Wounded Warrior Project. He was also a friend of Bill Wilson.
He loved his dogs, Duffy O’Malley and Yukon Blue very much.
Visiting Hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Saturday, May 16 from 2-5 PM immediately followed by the Funeral Service at 5 PM.
