Mary A. (Imbescheid) Grant, age 82 of Weymouth, Passed away Thursday March, 26, Mary was the loving wife for 48 years of the late Walter B. Grant, Jr. and the devoted mother of Walter B. Grant III and his wife Kathy of Weymouth, Susan Junta and husband John of Hanson, Mary Grant and her husband Jim Canavan of Asheville, North Carolina, Edward Grant and his wife Brooke of Harvard, Christine Slattery and her husband Dan of Wakefield, and Kevin Grant and his wife Julie of Scituate. She was the proud grandmother of David Stetson and his wife Nadia; Rachel and Sarah Grant; Madeline, Bridget, Emily and Brendan Grant; Mackenzie and Colin Grant and Owen Slattery; and the great grandmother of Walter and Colton Stetson and the sister of Joan Donovan and the late Helen Healey; sister-in law of Lorna Bardon, Barbara and Frank Hill, James Grant and the late Eleanor Curley. Mary is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Helen Imbescheid. She leaves a large caring family of nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Mary was born, and grew up in Boston. She was a lifelong Red Sox fan; remembering fondly trips to the ballgame with her dad and her sisters. She and her best friend June loved to meet after work on Friday afternoons to shop and then go dancing with Dick and Wally at the rainbow room. She moved to Weymouth in 1962 where she and Wally raised their children. Summers were spent at the beach, at Paragon Park, and for many years around the campfire in Vermont with the Bardons and the Hills. Her happiest times were with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Funeral from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Monday, March 30th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church 720 Broad St., Weymouth at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday, March 29th 4 to 8 PM. Donations may be made in Mary's memory to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Foundation 375 Church St. North Adams, MA 01247.
