Jean “Jeanie” Merten, age 62, passed away suddenly at her home on Thursday March 12, 2015.
Jean was the beloved sister of Mary-Ann Cole of N. Weymouth, James Merten and his wife Martha of Henderson, NV, Patricia Fleming and her husband David of N. Weymouth, John Merten of S. Weymouth and Michael Merten of Kingston, the devoted aunt of Kristen Cole Esson, Michael Cole, Amanda and Crystal Merten, Taylor, Olivia and Danisha Merten. She also leaves her grandnieces and nephews, Faith Esson, Charlie and Baylee Cole and Charlotte Rose Heinreich and was the beloved niece of many aunts, uncles, cousins and will be missed by many dear friends. Jeanie is predeceased by her parents, Frances and John Merten.
She was born and lived her whole life in S. Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School in 1970. Jean was active with the Sancians Drum Corp for many years and worked at Beth Israel Hospital for most of her career before her current employment at South Shore Cardiology.
The Funeral will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Tuesday, March 17 at 8:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 234 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be on Monday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.
