Robert “Robbie” O’Keefe died Monday evening after a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 53.
A highly skilled self-taught mechanic, Robbie was happiest when he was tinkering with any type of engine or wandering pit row during a NASCAR event. Quick to help his friends and neighbors, Robbie was always willing to engage in spirited conversations while up to his elbows in engine grease. Day or night, if you needed help Rob was always willing……provided of course that you did not mind being on “Robbie Time”.
He will be missed by his friends and family, brother, Francis and sisters Marianne and Patricia Gough, her husband Joseph and nephew Joe. Rob will be remembered for his big smile and his fun loving attitude. A lifelong resident of the South Shore, Robbie also enjoyed fishing at his secret spot, woodworking, photography and cooking on the back deck of the South Weymouth home that he shared with his sister, Marianne.
Visiting hours will be held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq. S. Weymouth on Saturday, February 14 from 1 to 4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber/ Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center, 101 Columbian St. S. Weymouth, 02190.
