Sarah Colella

Sarah “Sally” Colella (Carpenter), age 68, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side at the South Shore Hospital on Monday, October 13, 2014.
She was born in Melrose, raised in South Boston, and moved to Alabama after the blizzard of 1978. She graduated from John M Patterson State Technical College in Montgomery, Alabama with a degree in cosmetology and worked for many years as a beautician in Montgomery, Alabama and did auto body repair at Shade Tree in Hope Hull, Alabama until 1991 when she devoted her life to giving excellent care to her son who is quadriplegic. After living in Alabama and Florida for 30 plus years she moved to Weymouth to be closer to family.
Sarah was the wife of the late Robert G. Colella and is survived by her 2 children, Paul R Colella of Weymouth, MA and Sharon A Colella of Eastpoint, FL, and her Sisters, Monica M Carpenter of Manchester, NH and Joanne F Rakers of Weymouth, MA. She also leaves her grandchildren, Courtney, Taylor, Ashton Brownell and Peyton Millender, a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Sarah is predeceased by her parents, the late George P and Mary T (Coyne) Carpenter and her sisters, the late Elizabeth T Foley, Marcella D Miller, Leonard C, Robert L (Jumbo) and George P. Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Monday, October 20 at 11 AM. Visiting Hours will be on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM.
