Karen E. Zahm, age 71, passed away at the West Roxbury Veteran’s Hospital in MA on Thursday, August 7, 2014.
Karen is survived by her son, Peter Zahm of Attleboro, Ma, her granddaughter, Unique Cardona and grandson, Peter Zahm, Her brother, Kenneth Zahm of Middletown, RI and her 2 sisters, Valerie Ricker of Randolph and Deborah Carlson of Whitman, MA. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Karen was born in Orchard Park, NY, grew up in Scarsdale, NY, graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga, NY and joined the Army Nurse Corp before moving to Dedham, MA.
Karen was a retired Lieutenant-Colonel in the Army Nurse Corps and served in Vietnam, Okinawa, Guatemala, Texas and the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC.
Her passions were animals, especially dogs, classical music and singing. She sang for years with the Providence Singers.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Albert the Great Church, 1140 Washington St. Weymouth, MA on Monday August 11 at 9:30 AM.
