Richard Goggin, age 87, of Weymouth, passed away at the Royal Cape Cod Nursing Home in Buzzards Bay on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. He is the husband of the Late Florence M. (Stone) Goggin and is survived by his children, Richard E. Goggin and his wife Donna of Stoughton, Mark T. Goggin of Oakland, ME and Joan M. Goggin of Sandwich, his grandchildren, Bryan P. Goggin of Boston, Andrea Reardon and her husband Michael of Quincy, Andrew R. Goggin and his wife Erin of Oviedo, FL and Matthew Goggin and his wife Elizabeth of Fairfield, ME, and his sister, Sister James Peter Goggin of Tampa, FL. Richard also leaves 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Dick was born in Braintree and moved to Dorchester for a few years before living in Weymouth for the last 58 years.
He was a Telephone Switchman for New England Telephone before retiring in 1988. Dick served his country in the Navy as a Seaman First Class during World War II in both the European and Asiatic Theaters and was a charter member of the Weymouth Order of Elks, Lodge 2232 and a member of the Marshfield Rod and Gun Club.
The Funeral Service will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Saturday, July 12 at 8:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at Saint Albert the Great Church, 1140 Washington St. Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be on Friday from 4 to 8 PM with the Weymouth Elks Service at 7 PM. Interment will be in the Fairmount Cemetery in Weymouth.
