Warren J. "Barney" Bryant passed away at the Weymouth Health Care Center on April 8, 2014 at the age of 97. Barney is predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Althea F. "Affie" Bryant and is survived by his 3 sons, Russell of Ossipee, NH, Richard and his wife Pamela of South Weymouth and Steven and his wife Cheryl of Weymouth and his daughter in law, Martha Bryant of Port Charlotte, FL, his 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Warren is also predeceased by his son, Philip Bryant.
Warren was born in Stoughton, was a long time resident of Weymouth and lived in Harwich Port for the past 32 years before moving back to Weymouth. They were also "snowbirds" wintering in Ft Myers Beach from Jan. to April. He graduated from Weymouth High School in 1936 and worked at the Fore River Shipyard during WWII, then worked for the Lester R Fulton Co in Weymouth as a carpenter for 28 years. He was a past member of the Weymouth Grange and 35 year member of the Weymouth Lodge of Elks. Barney and Affie enjoyed traveling, (Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico) and driving cross country in their camper. They enjoyed boating and also enjoyed snowmobiling on the trails of NH.
The Funeral Service will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.), S. Weymouth on Saturday April 12 at 11:00am the visiting hours will be on Friday from 4pm to 8pm. Interment in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Barney's memory to the South Shore Elders Services, Meals on Wheels Program, 1515 Washington St, Braintree Ma 02184.
