Richard S. Carew passed away at the age of 82 on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family who he adored. Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beverly (Pattison) Carew, his daughters, Lee (Carew) Zeppetelle and her husband, Robert of Rhode Island and Jodi (Carew) McCormack and her husband, Richard of Carver. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen Eric Carew. He also leaves grandchildren, Kimberly McCormack, Amy (Kilnapp) Pettinella and her husband Anthony, and Adam Kilnapp. He was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew McCormack. He also leaves behind a great-grandson, Anthony Pettinella. He is survived by a brother, Duncan Carew of Rhode Island, a half-sister, Pamela Carew of Centerville and two half-brothers, Robert Carew of Maine and Marshall Carew of Florida. Richard was predeceased by a brother and sister, William Carew and Ruth (Carew) Laurent. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Richard was born in Vineland, New Jersey. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was an honor guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington, DC; a duty he performed with dignity and honor. He was a talented artist who graduated from Vesper George School of Art and worked as a commercial artist for many studios in Boston. Richard will be lovingly missed by his family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Saturday February 8 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be on Friday from 4 to 8 PM.
