Martha (Greenwood) Garran, age 96, passed away suddenly at the South Shore Hospital on Wednesday January 29, 2014. Martha was the wife of the late George W. Garran and is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Thomson and her husband Francis of Essex and her son, David G. Garran and his wife Judith of Hingham and her 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Scott and Christopher Thomson and Peter and Paige Garran and13 great grandchildren. She also leaves her nieces Nancy O’Brien and Gail (Greenwood) Weeks, Elizabeth (Morrell) Miko and her nephews, Paul W. Greenwood and John Morrell. Martha was predeceased by her brother Jack Greenwood and her sister Margaret Mission.
Martha was born in Boston, grew up in Savin Hill and lived in Quincy and Weymouth before moving to Hingham in 1998. She was an Executive Assistant at the William Carter Company in Boston for 35 years.
Martha will be lovingly missed by her family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Holy Nativity Church, 8 Nevin Rd. S. Weymouth on Monday February 3 at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM. Interment will be in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
