Stella (Roderson) Cook, age 86, passed away peacefully at the Hancock Park Nursing Center in Quincy on Saturday, September 7, 2013.
Stella was the wife of the late Walter M. Cook, her beloved husband of 57 years. She is survived by her children, Steven of Florida, and Sandra and her husband Joseph Scibilia of Braintree. She was a step grandmother to 3, and a great grandmother to 6. She leaves many nieces, nephews; grand nieces and nephews, and several cousins. She was a favorite aunt to many.
Stella was the youngest child born to Tarpe and Theodore Roderson. She was sister to the late
James, Charles, Frederick, Arthur, Athena, Anna Makrokanis, and Cleo Foley.
Raised in S. Weymouth, she was a hairdresser there for many years at Stella’s Beauty Shoppe, owned by her brother Fred. She and Walter lived in Weymouth with their children before moving to Braintree 45 years ago.
Stella filled her life caring for her family and was always willing to do so, no matter the need. She and Walter enjoyed many wonderful vacations, hosting poolside cookouts and Sunday dinners, and tending to their beloved pet poodles. Her lively spirit and generous nature will be missed by all her knew her.
The Funeral will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Wednesday September 11 at 9:15 AM followed by the Funeral at the St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common St. Braintree at 10 AM. Visiting Hours will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery on Wednesday at 12:45 PM.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Hancock Park for their wonderful care of Stella over these past few years. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hancock Park Alzheimer’s Fund, 164 Parkingway, Quincy, MA 02169.
