Richard A. Waitekaitis, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness on Sunday, April 7, 2013. Richard was the husband for 56 years of the late Carmela (Cardillo) Waitekaitis and is survived by his 3 children, Elaine DeJesus of New Smyrna, FL, Steven Waitekaitis of Norwell and Joanne Beasley of S. Weymouth. Rich also leaves 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandsons and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Richard A. Waitekaitis Jr.
Richard was born and grew up in Brockton and lived the last 40 years in Weymouth. He was a carpenter and a life member of Local 424 Carpenter’s Union and a member of the St. Francis Xavier Knights of Columbus. Rich was an avid bowler at the Colonial Bowl in Weymouth.
He served his country as a Private First Class in the Army overseas during the Korean War.
A Funeral Service will be held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Friday, April 12 at 10 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M.
