Richard L. Nims

Richard Lawrence Nims, age 88, died at South Shore Hospital on March 9, 2013. Richard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Leona (Nardi) Nims, his daughter Judith M. Nims and his son Gary J. Nims Sr. of Braintree. He also leaves his grandsons Gary J. Nims Jr. and his wife Nierika of Belmont, Shaun M. Phillips of Rockland and his granddaughter Rachel A. Phillips and her fiancé Joseph Innis of Whitman. He is beloved by his great grandchildren Maya and Joseph, and many nieces and nephews, including his niece Sherwood Modestino and her husband Anthony of Hanson.
Richard was born in Hyde Park, MA and lived in Braintree for the last 54 years. He was a graduate of Northeastern University, class of 1950 and belonged to the Sigma Honor Society. Richard then received his Masters Degree from Boston University, class of 1951, and went on to teach Social Studies at Weymouth High School for many years. He was the former Treasurer of the Kiwanis Club in Winchendon, MA.
The Funeral Service will be held at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.), S. Weymouth on Wednesday, March 13 at 11 A.M. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, from 4-8 P.M.
