James M. Murphy

James “Jim” Michael Murphy Sr. passed away on January 25, at the age of 76 surrounded by family. Jim was the first born son to James and Rose (Cristafulli) Murphy January 5, 1937, in Boston, MA. In February of 1954, Jim joined the Air Force. Upon return he began work driving truck at Consolidated Freightways where he remained for over 35 years. Jim was a long time, dedicated member of Teamsters Union Local 25 and then 653. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, June (Keniston), his brother, Francis (Jane) Murphy, his 8 children, Lorraine Wannebo, James Michael Murphy Jr., William Murphy, Raymond Murphy, Elizabeth Ann Murphy, Daniel C. Murphy, Danny Murphy and Vincent Michael Murphy. Jim also leaves 14 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
The Funeral will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Thursday, January 31at 9 am followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Albert the Great Church, 1140 Washington St., Weymouth at 10 am. Visiting hours will be from 5-8 pm on Wednesday. Donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Brockton VA Medical Center Volunteer Services, 940 Belmont St. Brockton, MA 02301.
