Muriel E. (Davidson) Carlsen, 89, passed away on Thursday, January10 at her home in Weymouth after a long illness. Her husband, John William “Jonny” Carlsen predeceased her and she loved taking care of her family since then.
She grew up with her 3 sisters in New Jersey and New York and as a young girl in Fall River.
She loved animals and 1 of her first jobs was for the American Kennel Club in New York City. Living in Weymouth for over 60 years, she was an office manager for Sears and Roebucks and later became the office manager for 2 Quincy dentists, Lionel Thibideau and Domenic Angelini. In 1979 she joined her sister, Althea Griffin, who was the founder of the South Shore Humane Society and looked after animals with much zeal and love for over 20 years. Muriel Carlsen “Aunty Muriel” did not have children but provided a loving home for her nephews in difficult times. She will be remembered as a kind giving women devoted to her husband and family.
She is survived by her 3 nephews, Guy K. Griffin, Peter W. Demko and John W. Demko.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Old South Union Chapel, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth on Thursday, January 31 at 6 P.M. If you would like to leave a message for the family please visit www.ccshepherd.com.
