Robert J. Leavitt Jr. age 60, passed away after a long illness on Sunday, October 14, 2012. He was the beloved father of Janet Tait and her husband Donny of Hanover, Courtney Sasin and her husband Marty of Canton,Victoria and Felicia Leavitt both of Pembroke and Rachel Black of FL, the grandfather of Owen and Rori Sasin and the loving son of Robert J. Leavitt, Sr. and the late Lee Leavitt of Norwell. Bob leaves 3 brothers; Michael Leavitt and his wife Roberta of Norwell, Christopher Leavitt and his wife Debbie of Pembroke and Timothy Leavitt of Norwell. He also leaves his devoted friend, Maureen Curran of Marshfield. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob graduated from Norwell High School in 1970 and attended Northeastern University. Managing supermarkets in Massachusetts and in California earlier in his career and working as a residential contractor later in his career was how he became known as “Bob the Builder.” Bob was a sports enthusiast as he coached Norwell boys’ football and enjoyed attending local high school football and basketball games with his friends. He loved to work out at the gym and was a member of the Old Colony Sportmen’s Association in Pembroke.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Saint Helen Church, 383 Washington St., Norwell on Saturday, October 20 at 9 A.M. followed by a graveside service at the Washington Street Cemetery across from the Church. The Church will be open at 8 A.M. for early visitation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Norwell Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 120 Longwater Dr., Norwell, MA 02061.
