Norman M. Gundersen, age 76, passed away at the Brockton Veterans Hospital on May 17, 2012. Norman is survived by his 6 children, Rita Bundas of Sun City Center, FL, John Grogan of Hanson, Barbara Pearl of Saint Simons Island, GA, Joan Smith of Hanson, Roy Gundersen of Plymouth and Rachel Gundersen of Brockton, his former wife Ellen (Houle) Gundersen and his sister Jean Colantonio of Weymouth. He is predeceased by his sister Sylvia Wynans.
Norman was born and raised in Quincy and lived in Brockton and Weymouth. He was a self-employed contractor in Boston and the South Shore for 55 years. Norman was the Founder and Pastor of the New Life Church for over 40 years and a long standing member of The Hundred Club of Massachusetts. He served his country as a Sergeant in the Marines during the Korean War. Norman will be remembered for his love of the Scriptures, gardening and chess.
The family greatly appreciated the care that was provided by the staff at the Brockton Veterans Hospital.
Visiting Hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Tuesday May 22 from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at the Funeral Home at 12 P.M.
