Donald R. Batchelder

Donald R. Batchelder passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Sunday April 29, 2012. He was the loving husband for 55 years of the late Barbara A. (Lyon) Batchelder. Don is survived by his 4 devoted daughters, Cynthia Hurley of Hanson, Sharon Ladago of Sudbury, VT, Susan Reed of Jeffersonville, VT and Dawn Welch of Quincy. He was also blessed with 8 grandchildren.
Don was a life long resident of Weymouth, worked for the Weymouth Tree Department for 10 years and retired from the Weymouth Fire Department after 25 years of service. He served his country as a Sergeant in the Marines during World War II and the Korean War. Don was a member of the Weymouth American Legion, the Weymouth VFW and the Fifth Fielders of the USMC. He will be remembered for his kind spirit and love of animals, nature and his family.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Thursday May 3 at 11 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Wednesday 4to8 P.M. Interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Thursday at 1:15 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don’s memory to the Mass.
