Terrence M. McGlynn, age 92, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2011. He lived comfortably at his home in Weymouth until recently when he moved to the Weymouth Healthcare Center where he was under Hospice care.
Terrence was survived by his loving wife, Ruth (O’Neill) McGlynn, his children Kathryn McGlynn of Weymouth, Sharon Bergen and her husband John of New Hope, PA, Maureen Shortt and her husband Thom of New Hope, PA, Brian McGlynn and his wife Beth of Sandwich, John McGlynn and his wife Chika of Tokyo, Japan, Maryann Gurney and her husband Malcolm Jr. of Weymouth and Stephen McGlynn and his wife Debbie of Abington, his 10 grandchildren, Malcolm III, Jason, Jessica, Michael, Andrew, Emily, Sean, Emma, Kevin and Maribeth and his great granddaughter Olivia. He also leaves his 3 sisters, Adeline Keefe of Yarmouth, Helen Carr of Weymouth and Marjorie Capozzi of Weymouth. Terrence was predeceased by his brother, Kevin McGlynn, his sisters, Teresa Shea, Mary McGlynn and Kathleen Strachan and his granddaughter Meghan (Shortt) Wilent.
Although he was born in Dorchester he lived there only a short time and considered himself a Weymouth Native. He had a keen interest in Weymouth history and enjoyed talking about it. He had many stories to tell of Weymouth in the early days when he was growing up. Terrence was a devoted follower of the NASA Space Program and would frequently fly to Florida to see the launching of shuttles from Kennedy Space Center.
The Funeral will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Friday December 30 at 9 A.M. followed by the Funeral Mass at the St. Francis Xavier Church, 261 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth at 10 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
