George H. Delorey, age 90, of Wolfeboro, NH, formerly of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. George was survived by his wife, Ruth (Stub) Delorey with whom he shared 65 years of Marriage, his son George W. Delorey and his wife Patricia, his daughter Elizabeth E. McMahon and her husband Thomas all of Weymouth and his daughter, Ellen M. Delorey of Brockton. He also leaves his loving grandchildren, Thomas McMahon IV and Amanda and Catherine Delorey. George was a 1941 graduate of Weymouth High School where he was a four year starter in football. As a halfback George contributed to the success of the team that became Class B Champions in 1940. He also played varsity football in his Junior and Senior years. George was honored by being inducted into the very first Annual Weymouth High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993. He was elected as President of his Junior and Senior classes by his classmates. After graduation George attended Wentworth Institute and then spent 2 ½ years in the Navy during World War II. He started in the Drywall Business after being discharged from the Navy and eventually co-owned his own Drywall Company for many years. He retired to Wolfeboro, NH where he enjoyed golfing, skiing and landscaping his property.
The Funeral will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Thursday December 29 at 9 A.M. followed by the Funeral Mass at the St. Francis Xavier Church, 261 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth at 10 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M.
